GARBAGE AND RECYCLING PICK-UP: Garbage collection is weekly (Monday thru Thursday) and follows the schedule posted on the Village website. Recycling is weekly collection of single stream recycling using the blue cart. Refer to the schedule for holiday collection. Please put garbage and recycling out at the curb by 6:00 AM on your pickup day.
TRASH/JUNK PICK–UP: Large trash items, up to 1 cubic yard, that won’t fit in your garbage cart are picked up at no charge Monday thru Thursday the first full week of most months. Refer to the Bulk Waste Collection Schedule on the Village website or in All About Allouez. Bulk waste includes non-freon appliances, mattresses, furniture, water heaters, sinks, and wood less than 4 feet in length. If the amount of trash/junk is more than 1 cubic yard, there is an additional charge for the larger volume and it will be billed to the resident. Non-collectable items include fluorescent light ballasts and lamps, mercury lamps, gas grill propane tanks, lead acid batteries, computers, microwaves, televisions, electronic equipment, tires, construction debris from remodeling, concrete and bricks. These items must be disposed of by the resident at the Brown County Solid Waste Transfer Station (construction debris, tires, appliances, batteries), the Brown County Recycling Center, or the Rcycling Center Household Hazardous Waste Facility (electronics items, paint). Do not place trash/junk at the curb during non-pickup weeks. Violators will be given a 48 hour notice to remove trash/junk from the curb and if not removed the Village will pick it up at a charge.
If a trash/junk pickup is requested due to selling a house and moving, cleaning out a house, or moving out of an apartment, a pickup can be provided at a $100 minimum charge. Call the Village Hall to schedule.
BRUSH PICK-UP: Brush is picked Monday thru Thursday the second and third full week of most months. Refer to the Brush Collection Schedule for exact collection times. Brush should be placed at the curb by 6:00 AM on your garbage collection day. Brush is not collected during October and November due fall cleanup; and only one week in March, April and December. Residents are encouraged to trim trees during May thru September.
Brush may be taken to the Village Yard Waste Site on Le Brun Road during the regular operating hours. See the Yard Waste Site Operation Schedule for further information.
FALL LEAF COLLECTION: Fall leaf collection begins in mid-October and extends thru the week before Thanksgiving. The Village crew makes a full pass thru the Village in 6-7 days. It is important that leaves be placed at the curb by Monday morning since the collection schedule varies and leaves may be picked any day of the week. A leaf collection schedule is posted twice weekly on the Village web site and is intended to provide a general guide to when leaf collection will occur in specific areas of the Village.
SNOW PLOWING: Allouez will plow streets when the snow accumulation is three inches or more. However, winter weather conditions can vary widely and snow removal is planned as best as possible for each winter weather event to minimize risk to residents. Generally, with snow accumulations of less than three inches the Village does not plow streets, but does apply salt at intersections and on streets with steep grades. For most snow events, side streets will be plowed during the night or early morning hours.
Sidewalk snowplowing will be single-pass plowing with residents expected to provide additional shoveling and ice removal per Village Ordinance 3.21 of the Municipal Code. Residents are reminded that snow and ice must be removed from all sidewalks within 48 hours after a winter storm, and if ice remains on the sidewalk it must be sanded. This applies to all sidewalks in the Village. If snow and ice are not removed within 48 hours, the Village will notify the resident and provide additional removal and charge the resident for the cost.
