SEEKING PART TIME POSITION FOR iCanConserve PROGRAM
7/23/2010 - Hello............my name is Lisa Fox and I work with the Focus on Energy Program (the state's energy efficiency and renewable energy program). In partnership with WPS, we will bring a unique energy efficiency program to the Village of Allouez -- iCanConserve. The iCanConserve program will offer various opportunities for homeowners and companies to increase the energy efficiency of their homes/businesses. One such opportunity is a program called the Home Energy Review. Two individuals, an Energy Advocate and a professional Energy Consultant will visit participating homeowners and analyze the overall efficiency of their homes, making recommendations to improve the efficiency and safety of each home. Generous incentives will be offered to the homeowner to complete the recommended improvements.

While various individuals are involved in the program, the Energy Advocate plays a critical role. He/she is the main point of contact for the homeowner throughout the process; guiding the homeowner, answering questions, and as the name "advocate" implies, serving as the champion and supporter of the homeowner. Because the iCanConserve program is community based we have found, through similar programs, that using community members is the ideal way to fill the role of the Energy Advocate.

We would therefore like to ask your organization if you have (or know of) any potential candidates who may be interested in becoming an Energy Advocate. Basic information about the position includes:

Function
* perform walk through energy audit (very basic, observational audit (training will be provided))
* educate homeowner on behavioral changes and simple improvements to increase energy efficiency in the home
* review recommendation findings with the homeowner
* check in on progress of contractors performing the work
* direct/answer questions and serve as "go to" person for the homeowner throughout the process

Skills
* people oriented -- very comfortable talking/dealing with people
* detail oriented -- will work with multiple homeowners at the same time
* flexible -- will need to make appointments around homeowner's schedule, including some evenings
* friendly, outgoing
* basic computer skills in Microsoft Outlook and Word
* no technical skills required (the Energy Consultant and others will serve as technical resources)

Terms
* part time, limited term employment (approx. 20 hours/week, beginning September, 2010; likely lasting summer/fall, 2012)
* employed by Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation (WECC) www.weccusa.org
* home-based employee, working in the Village of Allouez
* home visits
* generous hourly wage; however no benefits

If you, someone in your organization or someone else you know in Allouez may be interested in the Energy Advocate position (we likely will hire between 2 -4 Advocates), please let me know ASAP. I'm happy to discuss the position in more detail with anyone who may be interested. Feel free to call or email me:
